Stuart’s personal history of northern soul, Young Soul Rebels, was shortlisted for the Penderyn Music Prize in 2017. ![]() He was a staff writer with Echoes and media editor of the NME, and is widely regarded as the UK’s most influential writer on the history of soul music for his epic trilogy: Detroit 67: The Year That Changed Soul (nominated as Best Music Book of 2016), Memphis 68: The Tragedy of Southern Soul (winner of the Penderyn Music Prize), and Harlem 69: The Future of Soul. ![]() Stuart Cosgrove is from Perth, Scotland, and is a writer and broadcaster. ![]()
